In conjunction with Jay Wright’s Elite Team Camp,
NBA officials will be hosting a referee school at Villanova
University on Friday, June 13th and
Saturday, June 14th.
Games will run
between 6:30 pm and 10:30 pm on Friday and 9 am and 3:30 pm on Saturday.
Each day will feature:
- Group presentations before games commence
- Video taping and breakdown for each official
- Small group sessions highlighting
topics such as: mechanics, rules, and game management
- One-on-one interaction with NBA officials
Camp details:
- Hosted by Philadelphia area NBA referees: Joe Crawford, Steve Javie,
Duke Callahan, Mark Wunderlich, Tom Washington, Ed Malloy, & Mark Lindsay
- Cost: $250
- Each official is guaranteed to work
at least 3 games over the two days of play
- Limited number of officials to
maximize the instructional environment
- In addition to NBA referees, a member
of NBA management and college level supervisors will be in attendance
- Proceeds from school fees will be
donated to a variety of organizations (Coaches vs. Cancer, National
Basketball Referees Foundation (NBRF), The Javie Foundation for Charity,
and Hoops for Heroes)
NOTE: This camp features an extremely high level of
competitive play. Officials attending the school should have experience at the
high school varsity level or above.
